American Silver Eagle
The American Silver Eagle contains 1 troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver. Often considered one of the most beautiful coins ever minted, the Silver Eagle's design is based on A.A. Weinman's "Walking Liberty", introduced on the 1917 silver half-dollar. In order to make the Silver Eagle more resistant to scratching and marring, a small amount of copper is added to the silver content to increase the coin's durability. Each Silver American Eagle is guaranteed in weight and purity by the United States Government, and because silver is typically the lowest-priced precious metal, Silver Eagles are affordable for nearly every investor.
